Messaging: DMs & group chats
Send direct messages, start group chats, and keep up with your campaign and guild conversations.

Messages is your inbox for everything on Waypoint — one-to-one direct messages, group chats you create, and the built-in chat for your guilds and campaigns.
Starting a conversation
Message a person
Open someone's profile from the player directory or a session, and choose Message. This opens (or reuses) your direct conversation with them.Start a group
In Messages, use + Group to create a group chat and add the people you want.Send
Type in the composer and hit Send. New messages arrive live — no need to refresh.
How conversations are organized
The Messages sidebar groups your conversations so they're easy to find:
- Campaign Chats — the chat for each campaign you're in.
- Guild Chats — your guilds' group channels (the guild crest sits beside the name).
- Groups — group chats you or others created.
- Direct Messages — one-to-one conversations.
Each message shows the sender's avatar and name so it's easy to follow who said what.
Who you can message
Messaging respects your privacy settingsand our youngest members' safety rules. If you can't message someone, their settings (or a connection requirement) may not allow it.
Guild & campaign chats appear automatically
You don't create those — joining a guild or campaign adds its channel to your sidebar, and leaving removes it.
Staying on top of replies
Unread conversations show a badge, and you can get notified of new messages — tune that under notifications.
