Campaign settings, roles & sessions

Manage your table: co-GMs and campaign admins, locking the roster, running live sessions, freezing between-session chat, permissions, and the mature toggle.

GMs & campaign adminsUpdated July 15, 2026

A campaign's Settings section (visible to admins on the campaign hub) controls who can do what, how sessions run, and — for AI tables — how the AI Game Master behaves. Changes save as you toggle them.

Roles & who's in charge

  • GM (owner) — created the campaign; full control.
  • Co‑GM — a trusted second GM; can run the table and manage members. Co‑GMs are campaign admins automatically.
  • Player — plays a character.
  • Campaign admin — an extra flag the owner/GM can grant a player so they can help manage settings, sessions, and tools without being a full co‑GM.

Managing the roster

  • Add members — GMs add people by @username as a Player or Co‑GM.
  • Lock the roster — turn on membership lock to stop any new members from being added (useful once a campaign is full or mid‑arc).
  • Grant/revoke admin — toggle the campaign‑admin flag per player in Settings. The owner is always an admin.

Live sessions

A campaign is either in session or not; everyone sees the status. Running sessions keeps play deliberate and (for AI tables) controls spend.

  • Start / end a session — from the hub. Who can is set by Session control: admins only (default) or any member.
  • Require an active session (default on) — the AI GM only takes turns while a session is live; between sessions it waits.
  • Allow chat when inactive (default on) — turn off to freeze the party chat for non‑admins between sessions.

Player permissions

  • Players can add NPCs — let players (not just admins) create/generate NPCs & adversaries.
  • Players can add notes — let players add to the shared journal (GM‑only secret notes always stay GM‑only).
  • Battle map — enable or hide the shared battle map for the campaign.

Mature (18+) content

For AI‑GM campaigns, a GM can mark the table mature to allow dark themes, graphic violence, and strong language. Sexually explicit content — and anything sexual involving minors — stays blocked regardless, and if a minor is at the table the GM is kept strictly PG no matter the rating.

Who sees Settings

The Settings section (and the session Start/End buttons, per Session control) is shown only to admins. Regular players see the campaign, chat, journal, and their character.
